Our Challenges

The primary difficulties that face NZWR in its endeavours to improve water quality and solve aquatic weed and algae problems is simply the bureaucracy that exists in this country. This coupled with the fact that these same agencies affect our ability to promote some of the world’s most valuable fish species for aquaculture production (knowing forewell they cannot reproduce naturally in New Zealand) continues to frustrate the market.

New Zealanders are faced with the requirement to obtain unnecessary approvals from govt agencies that do not have the sufficient expertise or experience to provide those approvals, that without exception cause costly delays, waste millions of dollars of public money and considerable conservation loss. We dont like to be negative but things have to change!
